The Mechanics Of Whimsy

Some utterly fantastic sculptures and dioramas from LA artist Elizabeth McGrath. "Inspired by the relationship between the natural world and the detritus of consumer culture, she brings forth a new cavalcade of creatures from the darker corners of the streets, the city, the imagination. It is this melancholy interaction between man-made status symbols and suffering specimens of nature that make up her intricate body of work." Don't ya just love artists' bios? Her's even goes by the title of 'The Mechanics Of Whimsy : The art of Elizabeth McGrath '. Brilliant.

I would love to take this opportunity to thank you for bringing such fabulous artists to the attention of others. Both Elizabeth McGrath and Martine Roch are both amazing and inspiring "Anthropomorphic" artists.

Thanks for your love of the arts and your willingness to share through your blog.

Spectacular, Roisin. I particularly like the Egyptian cat, assuming that's what it is/was.
