For My Imaginary Garden

I don’t know why I post so many garden-related bits and bobs here, my own is really pretty dull. Just a patch of grass that opens on to the street with no fence or anything. (I like fences.) I do always say I’m going to do something with it but I never seem to get around to it. Partly because the thought of all the creepy crawlies puts me off slightly, but mainly because my man and I never really intended on living in this house for very long, certainly not as long as we’ve been here. We hoped to have been off living the good life in some exotic part of the world by this stage. Or at least to have moved out of town (himself is a country boy originally and swears he won’t be happy till he’s back there). Even now I still have the mindset we’ll be moving on someday soon.  We probably will be…

Anyway,  despite my neglect of my own wee patch, I do love gardens and they do take high priority on that dream home list I like to muse upon from time to time. And so today I’ve another addition to said list I’d like to share with you.  They’re by a sculptor called David Goode, who used to work for Madame Tussauds and created many of their most famous waxworks including Madonna, Michael Jackson and Ronald Regan. He now runs a studio at his home in Oxford and creates these enchanting bronze fantasy sculptures. I think a few of his pieces will look pretty sweet nestled in amongst these in my future cottage garden :)

OH my! These are all wonderful, but I especially love the first one. I've always had an obsessions with lamp posts so maybe thats why...
I know what you mean about the garden. I am finally tending more house plants in my city apartment, but when we lived in an actual house with a huge yard I never really grew a thing. I constantly felt guilty about not gardening, but I always thought it would be too temporary to bother. Of course we ended up being there nearly three years. Ah well, there was an abnormally vast population of huge spiders and they definitely served as a deterrent. I hate to say it, but there is something quite nice about keeping ones garden contained in little pots on the windowsill sometimes...

I really like these.

I moved into 'temporary' house once. I expected to be there for a few months, or maybe a year at least. I, too, wanted to get back to the country. I did, nine and a half years later.

Wonderful sculptures. I'd also love to look outside and see one or two of these. Alas, in the city that is not to be. With you on the "future cottage garden," though!

How great they are! I just can't wait too to leave the city...Think it's gonna be harder than I think (we get used to it) but I just can't wait to have my own little garden and no neighboors!

Laura- I love the first one too, reminds me of something from a children’s book. And I love the sound of your little potted garden :)

JJ- Nine years! That’s a scary thought…

Della- Some day, some day! And when that day comes we can swap gardening tips :)

Mademoiselle G- Yes, it easy to get too comfortable in some places. I think that’s what has happened us too.

Ruthie- Hello there! It’s good to hear from you. Sorry, I’ve been such a bad blogger I still haven’t got round to catching back up with everyone yet… Anyway, I would so love to visit your dream garden; I’d say it would be the most magical place on earth!

Jorgelina- Glad you liked them and lovely to meet you.

Melanie- Just realised I missed replying to your comment, whoops! And the one that jumped out at me too. I admire someone with a love of wee creepies, they are really cool. But alas, my brain has been programmed to shut down when I see some :( And yes, just think of the toadstools indeed! I actually don't live in a very big town, I just happen to live in the centre of it. Plus I've no transport so I'm limited to only skirting the edges of the countryside. I don't need to move, I just need a car!
