Fly Me To The Moon

Continuing the film theme here’s one that really should be on that list somewhere- Le Voyage Dans La Lune (1902). Over 100 years old, this little French masterpiece is as whimsical and wonderful as anything that’s come since. You’ve probably all seen it before, but it’s always worth another wee watch. Go on, take ten minutes out to take in one of the greatest films in cinematic history.

Oh, and I especially hope my two newest followers, Megan and Bethan, enjoy it. You ladies seem like you’d be rather lunar inclined ;)

Since you're obviously a bit of a film buff, R, could you help me out here? I'm trying to remember the title of a French animated film that I saw a bit of a long time ago. I've always wanted to see the whole thing but I can't remember the name of it. All I remember is that there was a sailing ship crossing a stormy sea to America, and that music was prominent somehow. And it had a French title, of course.

Sorry JJ, but I aint no film buff. I do enjoy them though. So, I can’t answer your question. Your synopsis does remind me of a film I saw as a kid, though, but that was a Disney cartoon called something like ‘An American Tail’ and it had mice in it. Hang on, I’ll go ask my friend Declan to have a look and see if he recognises it. He’s much more of a film buff than I.

The name 'Belle de Jour' keeps coming to mind, although I know that was an entirely different film. But I assume the title must have been along similar lines.
